Case 1: Revit 2026.4 with the Latest Navisworks Exporter
Symptoms
After installing the latest Navisworks Exporters 2026 in Revit 2026.4, errors occur when the Exporter starts or runs.
Cause
- Revit 2026.4 runs on .NET Runtime 8.0.
- The latest Navisworks Exporters 2026 now requires .NET Runtime 10.0.
- This runtime version mismatch prevents the Exporter from loading or running correctly.
Solution
-
Update Revit
Update Revit 2026.4 to Revit 2026.5.
-
Align the runtime versions
Revit 2026.5 uses a .NET 10 runtime compatible with the latest Navisworks Exporter.
-
Restart and verify
After the update, restart Windows and test Navisworks Export again.
Case 2: The Export Button Is Visible but Produces a Generic Error
Symptoms
The Navisworks 2026 Export button is already visible in Revit, but clicking it produces an error. The error dialog does not provide enough detail to identify the issue.
The screenshot below shows a typical example: Navisworks 2026 appears in Revit’s External Tools menu. This confirms that the Revit add-in entry point exists, but it does not prove that the main Exporter application has been fully installed.

Note: A visible Navisworks Export button in Revit only confirms that the Revit add-in entry point exists. It does not mean that the main Exporter application and the NWCreate runtime components have been fully installed.
What to Check
First, confirm whether the main Exporter installation directory exists:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Exporters 2026
If this directory is missing but the Navisworks 2026 button is still visible in Revit, this usually means:
- The Revit add-in files have been deployed.
- The main Navisworks Exporter installation did not complete successfully.
- Clicking Export may therefore produce only a generic error without specific diagnostic details.
Resolution Steps
-
Close related applications
Close Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Access, and any running Autodesk installers.
-
Check and address the installation source
Check the extraction directory under
C:\Autodeskused for this Navisworks Exporter installation attempt.Move the directories associated with this Exporter installation off the C drive, or extract the installer again to a new local directory with a short path.
Do not indiscriminately delete installation files for other Autodesk products under
C:\Autodesk. -
Reinstall as an administrator
Right-click the Navisworks Exporters 2026 installer and select Run as administrator.
-
Confirm that the main installation directory has been created
After installation, check the following directory again:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Exporters 2026 -
Test Revit Export again
Once the main installation directory exists, open Revit and test Navisworks Export.
